Acronis S3 backup storage in South Africa
Add Hexion as an S3-compatible public cloud backup location in Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud or Acronis Cyber Protect, and keep your backups in South African data centres.
- S3 Object Lock for immutable backups
- Data stays in South Africa (NTT, Teraco or ADC)
- Rand pricing, no egress or API fees
How it works
- 01
We create your bucket, with S3 Object Lock and versioning enabled if you want immutable backups.
- 02
In the Acronis console, add a public cloud backup location, choose S3 compatible, and enter your Hexion endpoint URL and access keys.
- 03
Select your Hexion bucket and, if Object Lock is on, set the backup immutability period. Choose Shield (one data centre) or Vault (two data centres, replicated by Hexion).
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use Hexion with Acronis?
- Yes. Hexion Shield and Vault are S3-compatible object storage on NetApp StorageGRID. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and Acronis Cyber Protect can back up directly to S3-compatible storage, so you add Hexion in Acronis as an S3-compatible public cloud backup location.
- Do I need anything enabled in Acronis?
- In Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, backing up to public cloud storage needs the Direct Backup to Public Cloud feature on your tenant, or Ultimate protection on solution-based billing. Check with your Acronis provider, as Acronis may charge for it.
- Can Acronis backups on Hexion be immutable?
- Yes. If your Hexion bucket has S3 Object Lock enabled, Acronis lets you set a backup immutability period when you add the location. Set your Acronis retention longer than the immutability period so older backups can be cleaned up.
- Where is my backup data stored?
- In South African data centres. Hexion Shield keeps your data in one of NTT, Teraco or ADC. Hexion Vault keeps two copies, replicated by Hexion between any two of those data centres.
- Can my backups be made immutable?
- Yes. Hexion Shield and Vault support S3 Object Lock, so backup objects can be protected against deletion or modification for the retention period you set.
- How is it priced?
- In rand, per TB per month, with a minimum of 5 TB. There are no egress fees and no API request fees.
